On the 12th May 2010 German LT Gen Boris Kasdorf and U.S Maj General Tim McHale presented 14 German Gold Crosses to 5-158th Medivac Crews for their act of bravery in flying into rescue injured German soldiers who got caught in an ambush by some 200 Taliban. 3 German soldiers died in this attack on the 2nd April many more would have died without their bravery under heavy fire.
